Some people like to disrespect Fender's line of guitars under the Squier moniker, but if you're an aspiring guitarist and not set in your ways yet, you should really check some of these out, and make your own judgements about them.

You will find some that just aren't great guitars, and others that you'll keep for a lifetime.

Fender has spread the Stratocaster/Telecaster type guitars out and various other models also.

There are at least three different Squier lines available which are made in Indonesia, Korea, & Japan...and very briefly Mexico.

The materials you find in the Mexican strats aren't as superior as you'd find in the American made or Custom Shop Stratocasters, but you can count on excellent attention paid to detail in the rare Mexican Squiers you might find, because chances are if that luthier will become the next guy making a Fender guitar you'll buy from the American Fender products line.
